Classic Crackles™ are glazes specifically crafted to develop subtle surface cracks, known as crazing, in the finished glaze. This cracked effect is favored by designers seeking to imbue their pottery with a vintage or antiqued charm, often used in home décor pieces.
Certified as AP Non-Toxic, Classic Crackles™ glazes are safe for artists of all ages when used in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines. However, they are not recommended for dinnerware due to the potential for surface textures such as cracks and crevices. While the glazed surface may pass lead and cadmium leach tests, making them legally classified as Food Safe, attempts to thoroughly clean the textured surface may lead to the underlying porous ware absorbing water and potentially failing. Therefore, they are best suited for ornamental use only.
