Mayco's New Kiln Wash offers exceptional durability, ensuring it remains intact without cracking or peeling throughout firing sessions in studios or classrooms.
This premixed Kiln Wash is ready to use and compatible with kiln firings ranging from Cone 018 to Cone 13 temperatures. Before application, it's advisable to wipe the kiln shelf with a damp sponge to eliminate any dust. Brushing two to three uniform coats onto the kiln shelf, allowing each coat to semi-dry between applications, ensures optimal results.
It's important to note that Mayco's Kiln Wash is not recommended for use with conventionally formulated kiln washes. Prior to application, any existing conventional kiln wash should be removed. Additionally, firing shelves with bone dry greenware in a bisque firing aids in maturing the kiln wash. This versatile product can also be applied to other kiln furniture and stilts to prevent glaze from adhering to surfaces.
